A big old clay pot, 78 cm tall, with the chalky weathered surface only time gives.

Nearly 80 cm of clay, wide-bellied and heavy, the sort of pot that used to hold grain or water and now mostly holds attention. The surface is chalky and uneven, with hairline marks and colour that has faded unevenly on the side that faced the sun. Plant it, or leave it empty in a corner where the light hits it in the afternoon — an empty pot this size is not a wasted one. Made and used in India long before it came to us. In a Mallorca finca it looks like it was always there.
