Unglazed terracotta bowl with a smoky grey-black finish, 30 cm in diameter.

The grey-black colour on this bowl isn’t a glaze — it comes from a particular way of firing the clay in the kiln, a technique kept alive by a small community of artisan families near Jodhpur who’ve been making these pieces for five generations.
Left unglazed, the surface stays raw and slightly textured, good for fruit, keys by the door, or anything that looks better sitting in clay than in a bowl built to disappear.
Smoke and fire leave their own kind of glaze.
