Someone stops in front of a table, runs a hand along the top, and asks where it came from. It happens most days. And the honest answer is never short. The top was a door once. The legs beneath it held the wheels of a farmer’s wagon. After that, a workshop outside Jodhpur, a carpenter who disagreed with us about the finish, and a container that sat in Valencia three weeks longer than it should have.
We tell that story well in person. We have been poor at telling it anywhere else.
So: Stories. Not articles about furniture. The door behind the showroom, propped open — the sourcing trips, the restorations, the disagreements, the pieces we walked away from and the ones we could not leave behind.

Some of it will be useful. Some of it is simply what happened. Every piece we sell has a past we only partly know, and the part we do know seems worth passing on with it.

This is the part we cannot do alone. We know what we find interesting. We do not know what you do.
If there is a piece in the showroom you have wondered about, ask. If you want to know how something is made, or why an old door makes a better table top than new timber, or what it actually costs to bring a container across — ask that too. If you would rather see more rooms and fewer objects, say so.
