A weathered wooden grain measure, bound in iron, that once weighed out harvests in rural India. Old, beautiful, and completely one of a kind.

Before the harvest was stored, it was measured. For generations across rural Rajasthan, vessels like this one stood at the heart of that ritual — filled and levelled, counted and emptied, season after season. This PARA is a true working antique: a wooden grain measure, 22–24 cm, its body worn smooth by hands and time, its iron bands holding everything together with quiet, functional dignity. It did not sit on a shelf. It worked.
What makes it so compelling now is precisely that history. The wood has darkened where grain dust settled into the grain. The iron has rusted and stilled. The proportions are sturdy and considered — not decorative by design, but beautiful by use. Placed on a sideboard, a kitchen shelf, or beside a stack of old books, it carries that rarity that no new object can imitate: the weight of an actual past.
Each PARA is entirely unique — different in patina, character, and the particular story written into its surface. Since every piece is unique, we are happy to send photos before shipping so you can choose your favourite.
Some vessels hold grain. Some hold time.
Highly recommended!
