Some tables are bought for a room; this one is bought for the people who will sit at it. Two and a half metres of reclaimed sal wood, wide enough to hold platters down the middle and still leave elbow room.

Sal is dense and close-grained, a cousin of teak, and these boards were salvaged before being planed and joined into one long surface. The finish is a light wax, nothing glossy, so the wood keeps its dry matte warmth and the imperfections stay visible where they belong. Muebles artesanales, hecho a mano.
