LOLA started as the same kind of vintage teak furniture as the rest of our cabinets — made or brought to India long ago, then handpicked and refurbished rather than left untouched — but took on a grey finish on the outside, with a clean white interior underneath.

Two drawers sit in the middle, flanked by double doors on either side, giving it a practical kitchen layout dressed in a colour that’s softer than the wood it’s hiding. At 92 by 33 by 164 centimetres, it suits a kitchen or dining room that wants storage without the weight of dark wood.
