Vintage wooden mortar, around 32 cm tall. Once used to pound spices for festivals, now a sculptural piece.

An ukhali stood in the corner of the kitchen and came out when there was enough spice to pound for a crowd — a wedding, a festival, a house full of people.
It is worked from a single block of solid wood, hollowed at the top and rubbed smooth inside by years of the pestle. The outside has dried and darkened, and the base still shows the ring where it stood. Around 32 cm tall.
There is one, and it is exactly as its working life left it — cracks, dents, an inside rubbed smooth. We can send photos or a video before delivery so you know precisely which piece is coming.
It has already fed a village.
