Washing instructions

Made using dhabu, one of Rajasthan’s oldest textile traditions, this throw begins not with dye but with mud. A paste of black clay is hand-stamped onto the cloth using carved wooden blocks, masking the fabric before it is submerged in a natural indigo bath. Where the mud resists, the cotton stays pale. Where the indigo takes hold, it settles into that deep, quiet blue that only comes from a plant-based dye and open air.

Because every step is done by hand — the block printing, the mud application, the dyeing — no two throws are exactly alike. The dot pattern shifts slightly, the indigo pools and lifts in its own way, and the colour may bleed a little in early washes. These are not flaws. They are the marks of a process that cannot be rushed or replicated by machine. A cotton lining on the reverse adds softness and weight, and hand-knotted tassels finish each corner.

At 125x160cm, it works as a sofa throw, a bed layer, or something you reach for without thinking. The colour deepens with use and washing — this is a piece that becomes more itself over time.

Some things only get better for having been handled.
